MEETINGS.
NTiWMARKET BOROUGH COUNCIL. The ordinary meeting of the Newmarket Borough Council -was held last evening, when there present the Mayor (Mr D. Teedi. Messrs W. Fookes, S. Donaldson, W. J. JalTrey, W. J. O'-leara. C. I_?e_. Clean nnd Healthy.—The sanitary inspector reported that he had made an inspection of the borough, in company with an officer of the Health Department, and that the latter had declared it to be one of the cleanest and healthiest areas in Auckland. I'onnd.—The ranker reported that delay and difficulty attended the driving of stray cattle to the pnblic pound In Ayr Street, and It was decided that, with a view to remedying this. Inquiries be made as to n suitable site for a pound In the borough. A Drainage Difficulty.—lt was decided to grant the request of the Epsom Road Board that the Waikato Co-operative Dairy Company be allowed to connect its new butter depot, situated itret over the boundary, with the Newmarket drainage system, subject to the consent of the Drainage Board, the necessity having arisen through the lack of drainage fac-itles in Epsom.
