MILITARY PROSECUTIONS.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—<Wrth reference to the letter from Mr C. R. Mackie appearing in your teeue of the 23rd inst., your correspondent makes some statements which are not accurate and are entirely misleading. It is necessary for every Territorial to put in ebc whole day parades yearly, in addition to the annual training camp. These parades are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays to sui-t the convenience of men who have different half-holidays. The consequence is that the Saturday parades are always larger than Wednesday, and the absentees parade on Wednesdays. The statement that there were 1,000 men absent from a parade ie untrue, and I challenge anyone to give the date and all particulars. The Third Auckland Regiment does not consist of 1,000 men, and the Auckland Brigade, which includes infantry, engineers, artillery, etc., did not, to the beet of ray knowledge, parade during the year. We Territorials are petting tired of the untruthß which are printed in some papers concerning the defence scheme in this country. We would like the British public to learn the true facts of the matter: How the citizen army is making sucJi splendid progress towarde efficiency.—l am, etc., . TERRITORIAL. SHELLY BEACH BATHS. (To the Editor.)
