The s.s. Hawera, which -went ashore at Patea. ha* now beoi hauled up, and it is confidently expected that repairs ■will be effected in about six weeks' time, when the work of re-launching will be undertaken. Thanks to her strength of build, the boat is practically undamaged except at the stem and side where she struck on the angular rocks. The hnll and stern, including rudder and propeller, are as good as the day they left the shipbuilders' yard. A remarkable feature of the damage is the fact that, though the rent in the side looks a» if the boat wae badly damaged, net a' plank is started, except when-the rocks actually touched.
