BOY HERO REWARDED.
At the annual breaking-up ceremony j of the New Lynn school yesterday, several presentations were made to the ; lad Alexander Barror, who showed conspicuous bravery in rescuing a little, toy named Edward Dyer from almost certain death on the railway line near: Titirangi a month ago. The following _l__inated address, signed by Mr. H. J. ! Eli- (headmaster of the school), Mr.; A J. Thorn (chairman of the New Lynn : -own Board), Mr. M. Laing (cbnirman °f the School Committee), and six; pupils representing the six standxrds la the school, was prestnted by Mr. Thorn:— "Alexander Barron, a pupil of tne New Lynn school, —Your sch-01----ellowß, teachers and friends recognise with great appreciation your heroic and successful efforts in rescuing voar little schoolmate, Edward Dyer, aged six. from ?aat must have been certain death, "hen the Helen, ville down-train approached the railway viaduct above the Tltirangi Road on "Tuesday, November jfi 1912, and you saw Edward on the ™ e > you unhesitatingly rushed on to we viaduct and jumped clear with him as the train reached the spot.
