BREAKING UP STEAM TTAVyrirR. (By Telegraph.—Preae /vesoeaaon.) CHRISTCHLJKCH, this day. An inquiry is being demanded con--1 cerning an explosion in the Addington I railway workshops on Saturday. A worn-out steam hammer was being broken up into sizes convenient for smelting. j a charge of gelignite being used. Apparently the charge was too big, for the explosion hurled chunks of iron in all directions, one weighing 61bs damaging the verandah of a residence nearby, while other pieces struck the roofs of houses in the vicinity.
