THE DOMINIONS' DUTY. A TRIFLE ALLIANCE. (Received 9.35 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The Hon. Jas. Allen, in an interview, expressed the opinion that New Zealand, Canada, and Australia would join hands some day in the defence of the Pacific. It was too much to ask the Mother Country to do it—that was our duty. During his visit to Melbourne he attends a meeting of the Defence Council st Senator Pearce's invitation. MB BORDEN'S POLICT. MODIFICATION FOSSXBLE. (Received 11.15 a_m.) OTTAWA, December 17. The "Ottawa Free Press" states that Mr Borden will probably modify his caval programme in the direction of adopting part of Sir Wilfrid Laurier's definite fleet unit policy.
