SPLIT IN LABOUR CAMP
MR. BEEBY TO RETIHE. (Received 0.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The morning papers announce that a split in the Labour camp is probable as tlv result, of the early retirement of Mr Beebv. the Minister of Labour. The principal reasons arp his denunciation of the referendum and the ofTeniT };iven to the unions by his administration of the industrial law, including his recent refusal of the Labour Council's requests to eliminate the penal clauses of the Industrial and Arbitration Act and guarantee absolute preference to unionists. The Labour Council has intimated to Mr. Rer-by that should he obtain the Labour nomination at the next election the Central Executive will not endorse hii nomination.
