WILSON'S ELECTION.
A BLOW AT THE TRUSTS. AN ENTHUSIASTIC BRITISHER. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON", November T. Mr. F. D. Acland. M.P. for North-west Cornwall, speaking at the Liberal meeting at Cornwall, said that Mr. Woodrovv Wilson's election a≤ President was a victory for the reduction of tariffs. A message of "God-speed"' might well go to the new President in his task of reducing the tariff, which would bring the Trusts to their proper position. Short of a revolution it was almost impossible to disestablish the Trusts. The only thing to do was to keep clear of them from the beginning.
FRIENDLY TOWARDS BRITAIN. Thr "Times" announces that the United States House of Representatives elected at Tuesday"? polls will be strongly Democratic, and that there are indications that the Democrats will secure a small majority in the Senate. "Britain.'' says the "•Times."' ■'has every reason to expect that President Wilson will be a good friend, but a formula to cover the external policy of the Democratic party is hard to find, owing to the lapse of time since the last Democratic President. ■'
