WIRELESS RECORDS.
The Sl'aw-Savill steamer "Matatua, which arrived from Montreal this mornin>', is fitted with a one and a-half K.M. Standard Marconi wireless plant, which is operated by Mr. T. Weller. During the voyage excellent results were obt;ii: - in lons distance communication. I'lii.i in Austria was spoken at a distance cf three thousand miles across the intervening countries of Europe. Cnmmuniciilion wiia established with Norddeich, l.sild miles away, and the ship's chronu-nii-icrs were adjusted from Eiffel Tower ■whin the steamer was 2.000 miles away. While crossin™ the ice track the Matatua spoke the U.S. cruiser Birmingham, which was policing the southern pack, and during the time the vessel was in the ire region, wireless communication was kept up with liners similarly fitted, which were in the vicinity.
