AUCKLAND EXHIBITION.

Good progress is being made with the work of preparing for the big exhibition of next year. In all probability the Works Committee of the Auckland City Council will to-morrow night accept a tender for the excavation of the site in the Outer Domain. The architects have the sketch plans of the buildings well in hand, and tho Architects' Association will most likely consider them this afternoon before they are sent on to the exhibition executive. The secretary. Mr W. "R. Holmes, this morning received the following letter from Mr J. Hislop. Under-Secretary for Internal "Referring to previous correspondence, I have the honour, by direction of the Minister of Internal Affairs, to enclose herewith six copies of the Order-rn-Council, dated the 29th instant, authorising the holding of the Auckland Industrial, Agricultural, and Mining Exhibition, 1913, to commence on the Ist December, 1913, and to extend up to and include the 28th February, 1914. The Order-in-Council will be published in the 'New Zealand Gazette' of Ist August." The Order provides for a public exhibition of works of industry, agriculture, and mining, at Auckland, to be known as the Auckland Industrial, Agricultural, and Mining Exhibition, 1913. It is authorised to commence on the first day of December, 19.13, and to extend up to and including February 28, 1914. An area of 97 acres of the Auckland Public Domain is set apart, temporarily, with the buildings thereon, for the purposes of the exhibition. The Ordpr-in-Council further appoints Messrs G. Elliot and B. Bottle to the Exhibition Conurtisfljoners, Mr Elliot being appointed president.
