MEETINGS.
m —— CONCERT AT MOUNT EDEN. A concert was given in the Mount Eden Baptist Hall last evening. Tbe overture, "Napoleon's Last Charge," rendered by Mr Parker's orchestra, was received with prolonged applause. Miss Olphert sang ln a pleasing manner McDonald," and had to respond to a well-deserved encore. Mr F. H. Garland had also to respond for his musical monologue. A violin solo by Mr E. Parker wan played In a masterly ma_nie»r. as was also the cornet solo rendered by Mr McCarthy. A Japanese violin solo by Mr I_nng was envored. as was Mr <_. Woolford's dramatic recital. An exhibition of musical juggling by Messrs X. Take and Graydon proved very attractive. Mr L. Metcalfe made his first appearance as a conjurer. The entertainment concluded •with "The Troubles of a Would-be Musician." by Messrs Matthews and Woolford. -which created much laughter. Mrs Heath assisted ably as the accompanist for the evening.
KNOX church. The" annual meeting of the Knox Church. Parneli. was held last night. There was an attendance of about forty members of I the congregation, and the Rev. J. M. Simpson presided. Reports were presented by the Kirk Session, the Board erf Management, the .Sabbath school superintendent, and the secretary of the Bible Class. All went to show that the work of the past year had been of a most satisfactory nature. There had been an increase of four in the Communion roll, the total now being 3GL Special thanks were proffered to the Sabbath school superintendent (Mr. J. Agnew). A cash balance of 17/3 was recorded, the receipts for the year having been £711 ft/11, and the expenditure £710 12/S, apart from balance carried forward. The report and balancesheet were unanimously adopted, and officers were elected for the ensuing; year.
