In his speech befoTe the Unionist Convention at Blenheim Park, Mr. Bonar Law stated that fiscal reform was the first plank in his platform. Mr. Asquith's legislation had raised the cost of production. It was common sense to compensate people with preference in their own market. He did not seek preference benefiting the colonies at the expense of thp British, -which Canada and Australia would repudiate. Colonials desired and urged reciprocal preference and co-operation with the Empire in peace and war.
