A Maori named Retete Tepoi was charged at Kaikohe yesterday with having practised tohttngaism. Evidence tvas given that accused took into the bush a girl 17 years old who was sufferiong from a minor complaint, and' continuously poured cold water on her bare body. It was alleged that the girl died as ths result of this treatment. Accused was fined £15 and costs. Sergeant Moore. who prosecuted, stated that accused w?.s supposed to hare been responsible for the death of nine people by tohunga treatment 20 years ago in the Xgunguru district.
