(By Telegrapa.—Special t.-> "Star.' ) WELLES'-GTOX. this day. Post. Office Savings Back depositor? increased their credits in the aggregate I last quarter by £195.789, the total dfposits at March Slat being £3.117.000. There vxre remarkable difference.- in; tie movement of this stream of hanking ■ business, Chxistch.Tirch people drew out ; more i&aii their deposits, while the credits of Ancklanders went tip hy no less a total than £68,000- Invereaxtrill people showed' thriitinf-Js in thesame way to the extent of £27,000, -while ! Dunedinites, who, like AucM&nders, have I tieir own local savings bank, unproved ] ! their balances by a modest £3400. AUCKLAJTD SAVINGS BAJCK. __ SLIGHILT IX EXCESS. DUE TO BE-A'WESrG OUT EVTEEESI. So far as the quarterly returns of the ; Auckland Savings Bank are concerned.; there is a slight excess of withdrawals over deposits, the figures being £.332338 and £330,955 respective!;*-, or £1983 in favour of withdrawals for the "March; quarter. This is accounted for, however, ■ by the fact that the first quarter is' tie one when a large, number of dcposi- i tOTs draw the yearly interest, on their I deposits, and as the interest on the ; aggregate deposit last year was £45,403, i it can easily be seen how a. withdrawal , of a portion of this sum -could affect j the quarter's returns, ■without making ' any actual rednction of capital deposits.:
