MILK SUPPLY.

,To the Editor.) Sir, —"Fools rush in whet* angels fear to tread," is an old, very old, maxim pregnant with deep meaning. In vour issue of the sth inst.. ••Householder" warns the public against milk adulterers, and beseeches them to go to the analyst with doubtful samples arid have them tested. Apparently he is ignorant of the fact that we hare milk testers to-day visiting all dairying establishments when and how they think fiU He is again ignorant of the fact that, samples of milk are almost daily being sent to the Government Analyst for treatment. What restrictions" does "Householder" desire to place npon men and women who are quite as honest, moral and righteous as himself? Your correspondent is again ignorant of the fact that when dairymen are caught adulterating milk heavy penalties are inflicted. Evidently his perusal of these columns has not done much to enlighten Jfis mind. If "Householder" hud only an elementary knowledge of the restrictions placed upon milk vendors, he would not be quite so glib in suggesting still more coercive ones. Classed as a body, milk vendor* are more hampered by governing bodies than any other business people in Auck land. Moreover, they are subjected U more diabolical intrusion and ijmorant bombast than any other business men As a rufc. the milk vendor is a courteous kindly disposed, and respectable citizen who is obliged to be out in all sorts oi weather, so that carping critics, such for instance, as "Householder," maj have milk for early cups of tea befor< venturing forth into the raging storm. —I am. ete., BARA KOSTUS.
