OLD AND INCORRIGIBLE. .lohn Hawker, 87 years of age, totterin; and palsied, pleaded guilty to drunkenness and to a charge thai he ■was an iiK-or rigible rogue, having insufficient lawful means of support, and having been previously consieted of being a rojue and vagabond. The Snb-Lnspector explained that Hawker had been in the Costley Home but had been so unruly that the authorities -would not take him Something would hare to he done w:th him, else he would one day be fujnd dead on the street. Hawker was sentenced to 13-month's imprisonment. UNSTAMPED WEIGHING MACHINE. Robert Marshall, a street fruit vendor, pie-aded guilty to having had in his poss. s-sion (1) an unjust weighing ma-chine, and (2) an unstamped weighing machine. The evidence showed that one machine •weighed 4oz. short, and the other 2oz. short in the Tb. to' the buyer. Accused explained machine had been on the road for years and he was "given to understand that it had been stamped. The other machine iwas not in use but ■was being looked after-fcr another man. Accused wasweonrioted undefined £2 on each-charge. MISCELLANEOUS. Edwin Fowlds pleaded guilty to chaxge= of having stolen a brief bag containing two pairs of chains (valued £3 10'). and a-clock (valued at 5/-). He ■W.LS sentenced to 3 month's imprisonment on the one charge and to one month's imprisonment on the other, the sentences to be concurrent. Richard James (Mr. Hackett) and Siren Marins Meiklesen (Mr. Singer) the two men charged with being concerned in the kidnapping of Gladys Kipp from her mother, appeared before the Magistrate this morning and were remanded for a veek. Bail was fixed-in each case, at two sureties of '£lso.
