HARRIERS.
The members of the Pioneer Harriers journeyed to Onehunga on Saturday afternoon, and held their run from the Mannkau Hotel. From the hotel the pack crossed the Mangcre bridge and proceeded on to the nfonntain, across some excellent harrier conntry. From the top of the mountain the leaders chose the steepest part to descend, and continued on the level country into Bast Mangcre. Circling round, the pack came out at the water's edge, and followed this course home. The leaders thought tbey would choose a short cut home, so they crossed one of the stretches of the Manultau harbour, bnt they found the experience a. rather unpleasant one, the mud being softer than they anticipated; In some places some of the members sank into holes that covered them over their knees. On reaching the road the pack set off at a fast pace for the run home, tihe leaders finishing in great style, especially A. Fletcher, a new runner, who has a promising future before him as a long distance man. The committee report that all arrangements have been completed for the race at Alexandra Park next Saturday, which is being held during the spell of the Auckland-Poverty Bay match. The club's thanks are due to Mr Sands, proprietor of the Manukau Hotel, for the excellent accommodation he provided, and if a few more gentlemen will chow the same sporting spirit as Mr Sands in providing accommodation, -the committee would not be slow to accept their offer.
