The Mines Commission, having practically finished work in the North Island, will commence their South Island tour this week, probably at -Nightcaps on Thursday, then proceeding to Invercargill, Central Otago, and Kaitangata. GORED BY A BULL. DANNEVIRKE, Saturday. The body of an elderly man named Daniel Baine was found in a paddock tills afternoon, fearfully mangled. There was no witness of his death, but it is presumed that he was killed by a bull which was in the paddock. The deceased was a gardener, employed by Rev. Father Cahill. UNREQUITED LOVE. PAHIATUA, Sunday. Andrew Taylor, aged about 17, and employed on a farm at Kohinui, shot himself, and was picked up on Saturday | morning with severe injuries, from which he shortly died. It is thought that he shot himself tho previous night. Tho suicide is said to have been the result of a love affair. A WOMAN FOUND DROWNED. CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. The body of Mrs. Charlotte Todd, who left the homo of her son-in-law in peculiar circumstances during the night about a week ago, was found in the Ileathcote River yesterday. CHILD'S DEATH FROM BURNS. HAWERA, this day. Lilian Harper, eight years of age, the child of William Harper, a settler of Mokaia, was admitted to the HospitaJ yesterday morning suffering from burns. The 'dii'ld had got out of 'bed to put a piece of wood on the fire, wheu her flannelette clothing was caught by the flames. She died' in the evening from shock. HIGH PRICE FOR BUTTER. A young man named John Hulme committed suicide by hanging himself at Waipiro Hospital this morning.
