Cazale published a leading article in his paper in which he aaid tiome 'unkind things about Mademoiselle Ly. The remark, however, that annoyed the, lady most, was one to the effec't that her advocacy of single blessedness and her praise of old maids' independence, ,wero probably due to her having no charmer, Mdlle. Ly was furious upon reading this "outragous attack, as she called it, and lost no time in challenging the author of the aspeision to a duel. ' The idea of -%i6etiag a woman in mor< till combat, however, was so repugnant to M. Cazale that he promptly declined the challenge, and tie militant advocato of woman's lights is now branding the unfortunate journalist as a coward.
