A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

NEW SHOW GROUNDS. PROGRESS OF THE WORK. Rapid progress is being made with the work of converting the fifty acres of land adjoining Alexandra Park, leased from the trustees of Campbell Park into n modern show ground, for the Auckland A. and P. Association. The grandstand is bow nearing completion, and the contractors, Messrs. Sayers and Jones, expect to be out of the building in aboct a week. The stand presents a most attractive appearance, being built in the bungalow st3 - le, with 2 small and one large central gable. Seating accommodation has been arranged for 2000 people, and in the front is a neat little platform, which may be used for the reception of officials and patrons. There are six approaches to the seats by easy flights of six steps. The ends are glassed in, and altogether the grandstand presents a handsome and finished appearance. In the basement ample accommodation has been provided for footballers. There are ten clubrooms, and two rooms fitted with a number of showers. At the back is provision for a bar or refreshment room, running half the length of the building, the other half being fitted to be utilised as a show room. Between the stand and the ring is a Btrip of land, which is to be laid out as a lawn. Already £IOO has been spent in levelling and grassing the ring, which has been surrounded by a strong wood and wire fence. A large portion of the land is to be put at the disposal of picnickers. The pens for stock are situated along the Aides of the sweeping drive "running from the Campbell Statue on the Manu-kau-road. In former years breeders felt some anxiety owing to their prize animals being stalled in the open. A great many of the pens on the new ground have been roofed, so that the animals will be secure in the event of unfavourable climatic conditions. Another improvement in regard to the pens is that gates have A,-ecn affixed, instead of the awkward slip rails. In all there arc to be 150 stalls for sheep,' 140 for cattle, 100 horse stalls, and 30 specially-fitted loose boxes for stallions. There is one entrance from Greenlane, and one hand-somely-finished public entrance from the, Manukau-road.
