AN AFRICAN MASSACRE.
BRITISH PARTY KILLED. VOLLEY FROM THE BUSH. (Received 12.55 p.m.) LONDONT, August 13. Owing to the murder of Mr. James, District Commissioner at Forcados, at the mouth of the Xiger, on the Guinea Coast, in British territory, by tribesmen, a punitive expedition has left Lagos. Details of the murder show that while Mr. James and his party were voyaging down the river a volley from the bush killed Mr. James, two policemen and three boatmen.
