A "SPIELERS" MOVE.
BUYING BANK NOTES CHEAP. (Received 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Banks are having to cash large numbers of notes owing to the impression gaining ground that they will not be worth face value after the end of June, when the heavy tax on new issues operates. It is believed that the impression was started by unscrupulous persons in the country districts, who are buying notes from ignorant farmers at 15/ to 18/.
