LONDON, June 27. Their Majesties, the Royal guests, and | the foreign envoys attended a gala per- I formance at Covent Garden Opera House, j Madame Melba sang selections from j "Romeo and Juliet" and Tetrazzini also I sang. Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Mr. Botha, Sir Joseph and Lady Ward, and Mr. and Mrs Fisher occupied a box.

There was a wonderful display of i jewels, uniforms, and dresses. i A hundred thousand roses were used j upon a trellis of green, giving the house the appearance oi an old-fasnioned garden, of which the boxes appeared to be a deeply recessed balcony. They were in- | scribed "Australia," "New Zealand," and j the other dominions, made of pink roses, j The Royal guests and Sir Joseph and j Lady Ward afterwards attended the ; . Duchess of Westminster's ball. _ | Magnificent weather prevailed during the King s garden party at Buckingham j j Palace.

There were 0000 guests, and the spectacle was a brilliant one. | The Prince of Wales, Princess Mary 1 and Prince George inspected tbe oversea C( ! troops at Chelsea in the presence of tho B Duke of Abefcorn and Lord Cheylesmore. n The Prince of Wales subsequently inspected the Rev. W. S. Wynne's cadets from Australia, and was greatly in- : terested in the young "Sons of the Em- \ pire," from whom he accepted a set of . badges. I
