Governor of the State, proposed the health of. Mr. McGowen, paying a tribute to his qualities lof simplicity and straightforwardness. | Mr. McGowen thanked tbe guests for j ' their kind reception. He had learnt much : since coming to London of what Britain i meant, and of what kinship meant. Ho ! had seen in the last two weeks a display of loyalty, not only to the King, but to I one another. Mrs. Cogblan, wife of the Agent-Gen-eral, held a reception afterwards, which was'largely attended, the guests including Mr. and Mrs. Fisher.
