MISSING MAN FOUND.
LATE ME. W. ERST. In connection with the disappearance of Mr. W. Bray, aged 82, a well-known resident of Onehunga, practically on the eve of a proposed operation for cancer, a search was continued by the police and a number of friends of the family yesterday. Late last evening Mr. W. M. Saunders reported that he had found the body of Mr. Bray on the beach near Week's Island, with the face lying downwards, and Constable Smith had it rembved to Mr. L. Bray's residence in Selwyn-street. An inquest was held at Onehunga this morning by Mr. D. A. Sutherland, Coroner.- Dr. W. G. Scott, In. .the course of evidence, stated that on Monday the deceased had consulted him regarding a sore on his tongue. He had ,found tbat cancer was present, and advised an operation for the removal of the tongue. He had. advised him to consult Dr. Lewis, who had confirmed Ma diagnosis. Deceased agreed to the operation, and said he had no wish to live, and did not dread the operation. Arrangements h.id been made for his removal to Nurse Foote's private hospital! on Wednesday— the day on which he disappeared—to prepare for the operation on Friday. On Tuesday he consulted Mβ dentist as a preliminary to the operation. . Mies Hornicroft deposed* £hat she had fpund a silver watch and 6/ in silver lying' on the Mangere Bridge. Mr. W. M. Saunders stated that while searching yesterday on the Mangere shore he Sad found the body about Is. miles from the bridge, within a few feet of high-water mark. , A verdict of found drowned was re- 1 turned. The interment takes place to-morrow afternoon at Waikaraka Cemetery.
