This morning Detectives Hollis and I Powell arrested a young man named Henry Andrew Condon on a charge of forgery. It is alleged that accused, in order to secure appointment in the Kailway Department, altered tho date on his birth certificate, to make his age appear five years less than it was. At the Police Court this afternoon accused was charged, and remanded for a week, bail being allowed in two sums of £20 or one of £4"r* ■"«""' -"- M. J. Cayle and F. J. Fenton (secretary to the Auckland Hospital) leave to-night for Wellington to attend the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board' 3 conference, which opens on Tuesday next. Mr. J. G. Yesterday the Stonemasons' Union passed a resolution strongly protesting against the Harbour Board's proposal to eliminate the tower from the plans of the new Ferry 'Buildings.
