REMUERA DRAINAGE.

(To tbe Editor.) Sir, — to let the ratepayers of Remuera know that the tramway trouble is not the worst trouble there. On the great South-road side of Remuera there is a cave, used for draining Onetree HiTl d-stri-t, etc. The drain was led into the cave over 30 years ago, 1 believe, when there was very little drainage, but with all the building that has been done since, the cave will not carry one-thousandth part of the water that goes to it; consequently, every winter all the sections around it, also the streets, are flooded. People going to work, and children going to school, have to wade away nearly from their gate to get a dry spot. Deputations, letters, petitions, etc., to the Remnera Road Board for the last three y.?ar3 have made no difference. It is only the people in the £2000 houses that get a hearing.- I don't expect anytliing will be done now, as three years' taliking has made no difference. Still it seems hard to see foundations of new houses rotting away, and the garden you make in the summer disappearing on to the next section in the winter, and knoiv it will never be- rectified.—l am, etc., REMUERA RATEPAYER. ) i
