! i I LONDON, June 12. ! i Mr. Melvin Vaniman. who was associ- j lated with Walter Wellraan in the latter's ! j unsuccessful attempt to make a balloon ' ] flight across the Atlantic in October last. ; has sailed for New York for the purpose lof completing a dirigible balloon 2_Stt in I length, and "costing £30.000. With this balloon he proposes to cross the Atlantic in October, and to carry a crew of five. I In an interview, Mr. Vaniman said that ' rubber-coated fabrics are so perfect that j lit would be easy to stay in the air for 30 ' j days. The real difficulty would be to ' I prevent the balloon rising to an extreme j : height when the rsvts of the sun expanded ' | the gas, but he thought he had solved ! that difficulty. \
