Mr. Asquith presided over the sitting of the Imperial Conference to-day, when the Australian and New Zealand resoluj tions regarding an Imperial Appeal Court were submitted. The Australian resolution in the law of conspiracy, that measures be taken to prevent defeat or evasion of the conspiracy laws of other parts of the Empire, w-as also discussed. The New Zealand motion was withdrawn, and the Conference decided to leave tbe question in the hands of the Imperial law officers to draft a scheme showing how far the present system could be altered, the scheme to be submitted when the full proceedings of the Conference are published. Tile conspiracy resolution is intended mainly to deal with stowaway Chinese, but owing to its far-reaching character the matter was left with the Imperial Government to take measures to remedy the trouble in the direction of Australian, requirements.
