NOT AN OFFENCE.
GIVING A VALUELESS CHEQUE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Two prisoners were brought up for sentence this morning before Judge Williams. In the case of William Julian, aged 27, who had pleaded guilty at Cromwell to a charge of fa]?c pretences, the judge held no offence had been committed. All the prisoner did had been to give a valueless cheque. Ho ordered accused to be discharged without sentence. In the case of William Lambert, who had pleaded guilty at Oamaru to carnally knowing a girl under 10. his Honor remanded the case till Thursday, till he knew more about it.
