GROWTH IN DAIRYING INDUSTRY.
The report of the National Dairy Association supplies some instructive figures relating to the development of the dairying industry during the last sixteen years. From it we quote:— In 1805 butter to the value of £263541 and cheese to the value of £160,383 represented the total export from the Dominion. For the year ended on March 31st, 1911, butter worth £1,878,320 and cheese to the value of £1,222,364 left the Dominion, making a grand total of £3,100,684 worth, against £423,624 in 1895. There is also a statement of the quantities shipped from the various ports, which gives an idea of the extent of the industry in each centre:— Butter Cheese ' CVt. Cwt.
