BLAZE IN WELLINGTON.

ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT BUILD INGS DESTROYED. CORONATION DECORATIONS BURNED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ' WELLINGTON, this day. About one o'clock this morning one o: the biggest fires experienced in Welling' ton for a considerable time broke out in the building of the Government railway maintenance electrical department A few minutes after the alarm had been given the whole building was in flames. Seeing no chance of saving this building the Fire Brigade directed their main efforts to prevent adjoining buildings to the north (the Easson butter box factory) from catching alight. Fortunately there was no wind, and the box factory was saved. The building occupied by the electrical department was gutted They had in hand all the electrical appliances for decorations in connection with the Coronation. The Governmcnl held their own insurance risk. The damage to the railway stores is estimated at between £8000 and £10,000. The contents of Esson's premises are insured for £500 in the London and Lancashire and £333 (on machinery) in th< Union.
