JAPS AND THE VACANT SPACES. (Received 10.5 ajn.), - : ..„-.<-'.. SYDNEY, this day. Sir Hartley Williams, who is revisiting Australia, spent several weeks in Japan. He says that the anxiety of the Japanese to build a powerful navy is undiminished. Notwithstanding assurances otherwise, he says, Japanese eyes are turned towards Australia. They are questioning themselves regarding the empty places. He urges the necessity of Australia filling these spaces.
