MAY.QUEEX. The manager telegraphed this afternoon: "Quartz showing strong dabs of gold, Exchange reef 1000 feet level." GOLDEN PAH. Tbe Golden Tab Mine, which adjoins the Old Hauraki Company's property at Coromandel, was sold by auction yesterday at Mr ft. C. Carr's mart, Swaii-son-street, for £32. The purchase was made on behalf of the Old Hauraki Company.

The following report, dated Bth May, Is due to arrive in London to-day, June 10. .Most of the blocks referred iv were left lv by tbe previous management, because the reefs are small, and tne ore was considered to be too low grade to pay for breaking and treatment. The different blocks arc distinguished by tne names ut the men who have the contract for breaicing out the ore. There are two distinct reefs in the mine, upon which operations are in progress at present, and tnese are known as the "Crowu" aud "Welcome" respectively. The Waltawheta level, being the main adit. Is the datum level, and tlio letter "A" signifies levels above, while tue letter "I!" Indicates levels below that point. No. 1 Level A, Welcome lteef: Lowe's Block.—The reef averages 4 feet 0 Inches iv thickness; value, £1 14/ per ton. No. 3 Level, B. Welcome Reef: McCarron's Block. —North of the shaft the reef is being stoped out to a width of oft; value, £3 111/ per ton. O'Maru's Block, south of the shaft, the reef measures 2ft Uiu In thickness; value, £1 2/ per ton. Ilobinson's Block, over the back of No. :i level, the reef measures ;ift in thickness; value '£4 2/ per ion. No. 1 Level B, Welcome Reef: Merlo's Rise.—-The reef averages Kiln in thickness; value, ±8 4/ per ton. ltatlitT's Block: The reef measures 221n in thickness; value, £3 !»/ per ton. No. 5 Level B, Welcome Reef: Adams' Block. - The reef measures 221n In thickness; value £« 3/ per ton. Wall's Rise is going up over the back of the crosscut west of No. r> level, aud almost immediately under a winze sunk beneath the Boor of No. 4 level, on payable ore. it is now up 3(1 feet The reef averaging 2ft assays at the rate of 8/8 per ton. Waltawheta North Level, Crown Reef: Wilson's Block is situated north of the main crosscut. Lately tlie drive has passed through a series of breaks, but now there is a solid body of quartz In tbe face two feet wide. This drive is exploring a section of the mine hitherto untouched, and in that direction the outlook is very promising. Mcrhersou s Block: The reef in the stopes measures 2ft in thickness; value, £1 7/8 per ton. Waltawheta South Level, Crown Reef.—ln Hardman's Block, Waltawheta Level, the reef measures 2ft 6in for the whole of that distance; value, £1 10/ per ton. No. 1 Level South, A, Crown Reef: Harflman's No. 2 Block.—The reef measures 2ft bin in thickness; value. £.'! 4/ per ton. Berry's Block: The reef measures 2ft iv thickness; value £2 12/6 per ton. .1. Adams' Block Is located above. No. 1 level. The reef measures 2ft Bin in thickness; value, £2 15/ per ton. No. 3 Level South. A, Crown Reef: Cogan's Block Is situated above No. 3 Level, and it Is the highest block In this section of the mine. The reef measures .'III iv thickness: value, £2 IS/ per ton. From the back of these stopes a prospecting cross-cut is being put in eastward. Several reet formations, currying low values, have already been intersected. Talisman Reef: Between the No. T level and the No. 1 level this reef dipped out of the Talisman mine, and into the Crown mine for a length of 200 ft along its line. This block Is still Intact, niul, according to measurement, it should contain 23.000 tons of ore. This section has been exploited and sampled, wherever it was possible to do so, und the average assay value of the ore is £3 11/ per ton.

MOUNTAIN KING. The new low level is still in excellent working country. During the week the lode came in about 18 inches wide of well defined quartz. The stopes over tho Intermediate are turning out ore of very fair grade, lv the north stope under the intermediate, the reef Is still very small, but shows a little gold. The battery continues to work eight hours per day on stopc ore aud surface stuff.
