CAMBRIDGE.
A meeting of the Tukekura Itoad Board was held at Cambridge yesterday morning, there being present—Messrs. Fisher (chairman), Speake, Nirrish and Reynolds. The rate for the year, of lSd in the £, was struck; and accounts amounting to £102 were paid. An agreement between the Board and C. Thomas aud others, re the making of a new road through the property of the latter, was signed. General Godley, the officer commanding the New Zealand forces, will address the people of Cambridge lv the Council chamber on Monday evening next. The Mayor Invites all to be present on that occasion. The Matamata County Council Is a progressive one, and If the money it spends is an indication of the progress being made in the district, it must surely be advancing by leaps and bounds. In April it paid away £1220; In May, £1004; and this month it has already paid away £2015 for public services.
