EIGHT HOURS IN THE CANEFIELDS.
BRISBANE, June 0. A deputation asked the Treasurer to use his efforts to secure an eight-hour day on the sugar fields. A speaker said he had no authority to say so, but be thought that unless "it were granted there would be trouble. The Treasurer replied that this was the wrong way to approach a Minister, but he. would make inquiries.
