Mackenzie this afternoon presented a return showing (1) the total expenditure by the Government in the Town of Rotorua since taking over control of the town in 1907, and (2) the total amount of revenue received from all sources during the same period. The expenditure since 1907 totals £81,858, consisting of £35,360 voted out of the. Consolidated Fund and £46,498 out of the Public Works Fund. This is exclusive of payments out of the Rotorua Town Account. The total amount of revenue received from all sources during the same period was (exclusive of the Rotorua Town Account) £25,317. THE TONTINE PETITIONS. -As the outcome of numerous petitions for legislation to afford protection and relief from the" methods of the Colonial Mutual Life- Assurance Society in regard .td tontine policies the Public Accounts Committee this- afternoon recommended .the Government to take steps to ascertain what legislation has been passed by other countries regarding life insurance policies, with a view to protecting the public in order that legislation for the same purpose may (if considered advisable by the Government) be introduced into Parliament nest session. .-
