m (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) FOUND DEAD. DUNEDIN, this day. Edwin George, an old resident of Cromwell was found dead in a hut this morning. He had been drinking heavily for a fortnight. a EMPLOYERS' ASSOCIATION UNEASY DUNEDIN, this day. At the annual meeting of the Dunedin Employers' Association several members spoke spfrongly concerning the attitude of some Labour leaders, which they characterised as an endeavour to revolutionise the whole industrial system. The opinion was expressed that unless strong measures were taken to conserve the present system, no employer would be safe. FIRE AT WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, this day. An eight-roilled dwelling in Brougnaoidrive was destroyed by fire last night. The building was owned by Mrs. Hutcheson and occupied by Mrs. Everard. The fire is believed to have been caused pby a gas jet igniting the wallpaper. Very little was saved. There is an insurance of £350 on the furniture. STATE COLLERIES. GREYMOUTH, this day. A strong deputation of Branner and Greymouth public men leave here and Arahura on Monday to deputatiomse Ministers regarding the Wallsend mine, with a view pto the State taking it over for development. WRONG NAME REGISTERED. DUNEDIN, this day. An unusual case was heard at the Magistrate's Court this morning. Celina Priscilla Graham, a married woman, pleaded guilty to having made a false statement, whereby the registrar of ; births was caused .to make a wrong registration. It appeared that defendant had been separated from her husband, who continued periodically to visit her. This led her 'to lose good situations, and, to elude him, she assumed another name, although .the child was his. Defendant was committed for sentence. CANTERBURY WOOL SALE. CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The wool sales were concluded to-day with star lots. Merino brought 7Jd to lOd: halfbred. 8d to lOJd; crossbred, 6}d to 9:3 d; threequarterbred, 7d to 9}d; Corriedale, 9d to lid; longwools, 7Jd to Sd; Downs, BJd to 10Jd. THE WANGANUI SHOW. Bennett's Royal Guard. CONVICTION ON SERIOUS CHARGE. WELLINGTON, this day. William Lavery, an elderly man, was found guilty at the Supreme Court today of carnally knowing and indecently assaulting a girl aged fourteen years and two months. He was remanded till Saturday for sentence.
