FIRE IN WELLINGTON.
TWO BLTLDINGS GUTTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A serious fire took place in the city shortly betore noon to-day. Archer's drapery stores and the Union Laundry, Cuba-street, were gutted. The fire is supposed to have origin ated in an annexe at the rear of Archer's. The damage Ls estimated at over £3300. The premises I were owned by Mr. V. .Tenseu, -whose insurances were about £250 on each, shop in the Norwich Union. The stock was insured f<.r £2000 in the Northern and .AntitraJjan Alliam-p. Tho damage to stock u> estimated at £2500. The main part of Archer's premises, a. brick building, owned by Mrs. Dawson, was uninjured. There were about 20 employees in the shop, mostly girls.
