MEETINGS.

MOUNT ALBERT METHODIST CHUHCH. The forty-fourth anniversary services of the Mount Albert Methodist Church, were held oil Sunday last, the Ilev. J. Wilson preaching in the morning, and the Rev. G. t>. Cook at the evening service. There were large congregations, extra seating accommodation having to be provided for the evening, which was a -choral service. The choir, under the leadership of Mr W. A-stley, effectively rendered the following anithems: "Send Out Thy Light" XGounod), •Trust in the Lord Always" '(Simper); and "Across the Bar' (Sampson). Solos were sung .by Miss Phillipps, Miss Annie Webt), and Mr S. T. Astley. The annual social ■takes place <m Thursday evening.. ELLERSLIE SCHOOL COMMITTEE. In reporting to the Ellerelie School Committee on the state of the lillerslie School, Mr E. C. Mnlgan, chief inspector of Schools, stated that the work of the school was directed with care and Intelligence, that the programmes of work showed a wise selection nnu a sound appreciation of educative aims, and that the methods of instruction had for their object the efficient training of the pupils. He said that the discipline and toDe of the school and the manners and behaviour of the pupils were in general good. He also made appreciative reference to the school garden, which, he reported, added considerably to the attractive appearance of the playground, and, while supplying material for the illustration of nature study lessons, afforded an opportunity for a training in habits of industry and steady application. CONCERT AT NORTHCOTE.

The young men of the Northcote Presbyterian Church are to Vie congratulated, on the result of the concert which was organised by them, and which, was held in the Parish Hall last night, for the purpose °f raising funds for the renovation, of Hie church. The programme, which was an excellent one, was as follows: —Piano solo, "Prelude in B Minor" (Mendelssohn), Miss Sharp; song, "The Chorister" (Sullivan), Mr T. Moseley; song, ".Uy Am Folk" (Lemon), Miss Hanncken; song, "Alone on the Raft" (Paul Rodney), Mr G. Higgott, -who also, in response to a vigorous encore, gave a capital rendering: of the "Star of Bethlehem"; violin solo, "Air Gavotte" (Bohn), Mr E. Parker; soue. "I Wouder if Ever the Rose" (Slate). Miss Rountree (encored); song, "The Deathless Army" (Wntson), Mr B. Wrathflll; song, "The Merry Monk" (F. Bevan). Dr. J. Nell] Keith; musical monologue, Mr E. H. Nicholas; song, "Youth and.a Day," Miss Roun-tree; humorous recitation, Mr Fraser; song, "The Postillion" (J. L. Molloy), Dr. J. N. Keith; song, "Vanity Fair," Miss E. Rankin, and also as an encore item. "Kathleen Mavonrneen"; Mandolin solo. "Kiss of Spring" (Rolfe), Mr F. Marshall, anil in response to an encore, "Lead, Kindly Light"; soug, "Three for Jack" (Squire), Mr E. Wrathall. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the performers at the close for tneir voluntary services.
