4Bjr Telegraph.—Preset Association.) SOUTHERN COURTS. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. At the Supreme Court to-day John Taylor, a middle-aged man, was found "guilty" of laving attempted carnal knowledge of a female under the age of ten years. Prisoner was remanded for sentence. John Harrison, on a charge of robbery and violence, was sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment. Ernest White, on a charge of assault, was eentenced to six months' imprisonment. FIRE AT DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, this day. Fire early this morning gutted the rear portion of Powley and Keast's bottling store, this being the fourth fire of the kind, all in the'same position. The flames spread rapidly, by means of straw enveloped. Through a. crossing in the transmission lines, the Fire Brigade were luTed to the wrong spot, and this gave the fire a considerable hold. The insurances are:—Buildings, £1.250, in the South British; stock and contents, £1,800, in the Royal, a.nd £COO in the New Zealand. The damage is in the neighbourhood of £1.,000 v Tihe building is owned by the trustees of the late Mrs. Henderson Law. WELCOME RAIN. <•* WAIPAWA, this day.
