SOUTH AFRICAN CRICKETERS

A WIN JOB VICTORIA. BY FIVE WICKETS. (By Cahle.—(Press Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, November 15. The South Africans continued their match against Victoria to-day, the weather being fine, and the wicket good. The attendance was about 5000. Nourse and Faulkner resumed their places ai the wickets, and Hazlitt and Facy opened the bowling, but the bulk was borne by Layer and Armstrong. The latter pair were very accurate, Armstrong sending down 11 overs for 10 maidens and a wicket. The Africans gave a disappointing display, except Nourse and Faulkner. The former batted for an hour and three-quarters, not once giving a chance. His score included four fours. Faulkner gave a delightful exhibition of batting all round the wicket, his score including six fours. Schwarz was bowled second ball. He made a wild hit and was caught by Matthews. Llewellyn gave a lively display until caught in the long field. Commaille and Strieker both played very cautiously. Just when Strieker seemed to have the bowling beaten he was run out. Pegler went out first ball. Matthews bowled splendidly. Warne and Smith opened Victoria's second innings, Schwarz and Vogler bowling. Smith made 21 in a-quarter of an hour by slogging, when he was deceived by one of Schwarz's googlies, and had to return to the pavilion. Vogler beat Warne with a fast ball. Seitz was foolishly run out. The match will be resumed at 11.30 to-morrow morning, and stumps drawn at two o'clock. (Received 2.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. The weather was hot and the attendance good when the match was resumed to-day. Kortlang and Carkeek, the two not outs, continued their innings to tlnj bowling of .Schwarz and Vogler. After adding six to his overnight score Kortlang put his leg in front of a straight one from Schwarz and retired. Armstrong followed, and he and Carkeek hit off the rest of the runs required without a separation being effected, the Victorians 'thus winning by five wickets.
