CRIME IN MELBOURNE.
MILITARY PATROLS WANTED. (Received 11.30 a.m.). . MELBOURNE, this day. Tn the House of Assembly Mx. McLachlan asked if the Government, were prepared to confer with the Federal authorities with a view to having the streets patrolled by militia at night in view of the large number of crimes, especially garotting and house entering. The Premier replied that the Commissioner of Police reported that the suggestion was objectionable, crime never having been less than at present.
