LIQUOR IN THE KING COUNTRY.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Mr. W. Jennings, M.P., is reported .to have told the House that during the la3t six years enough liquor had been sent into the King Country to float a dozen Dreadnoughts. I presume that would be a large quantity. Yet in must be consumed by ,the Europeans, for Mr. Jennings tells Mr. Okey that he had seen more drunken Maoris in Mr. 0 key's own town than, he (Mr Jennings) had seen in the whole of the King Country in twelve years. As Mr. Okey'e town is New Ptymoufck, where there are several licensed, houses, this is most valuable testimony to the benefits of the partial prohibition we have granted the natives, and I shall expect my friend Mr. Jennings to at once join in extending such a blessing by supporting Dominion prohibition.—l am, etc., W. J. MACDERMOTT.
