SOUTHERN COURTS.

(By Telegraph.—-Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The criminal opened this morning with charges against eight persons. Mr. Justice Chapman said the small calendar was a matter for congratulation, but there was an unusually large proportion of sexual cases. Incidentally he referred to the fact that the principal witness m one case was under five years of age, and said that he had found young children particularly good witnesses, especially in the matter of identification.
