EXPLORER'S HORRIBLE DEATH
DEVOTTBED BY AW AXXIGATOR. LONDON, October 10. Letters received here relate the horrible late by which Mr. Bellis, a well-known explorer, was recently overtaken in Honduras.
Mr. Bellis left England in February 3ast at the liecul of an expedition that •was going to the Central American Republic to investigate the natural resources of the interior of that country. iWith the other members of the party he ■was proceeding in a flat-bottomed boat up a river when the craft capsized. Mr. Bellis struck out for the bank, but before he could reach the shore an alligator seized the lucklese explorer, and dragged him under. The other /members of the expedition got ashore safely, but they saw nothing more of their leader.
