WALL-STREET AND TAMMANY.
A CORRUPT ALLIANCE. DENOUNCED BY ROOSEVELT. NEW YORK, October 15. | Mr. Theodore Eoosevelt, speaking at lElmira, denounced Wall-street and Tammany for having formed an alliance, conj taining the most corrupt business men and the most corrupt political bosses since the notorious "Boss" Tweed. 1 Mr. W. R. Hearst, the American millionaire newspaper proprietor, in an interview last week with a Press representative, said: "An un-American system of party slavery is undermining our American psystem of free government. Horrifying revelations in California, New York, Illinois, Mississippi, and other States have disclosed a depth of political depravity which has been* suspected, perhaps, but which has never been fully realised. Strict party government has proved a failure. That which President Lincoln described as 'government of the people, by the people, for the people,' had become 'government of parties, by the ' bosses, for the trusts.' But," added Mr. Hearst, "the people are revolting, and the country will be saved."
