PARIS, October IS. M. Briand (Premier) has smashed the strike. The strike has practically ended. ••{ The masons and bricklayers in Paris struck yesterday, and marched in procession. The police stopped the processions, and a conflict ensued. Missiles were thrown and injured several police. Military occupation of the selected points prevented, the outbreak. The Government threatened heavy penalties when the organisers are discovered. A dynamite bomb exploded on the line between Breteuil and Ailly-sur-Norje. A ■watchman stopped the Calais express half a mile from the scene of the outrage. BOMB IN THE RUE BERRI (Received 8.22 a.m.) PARIS, October 16. It is-believed that the bomb which was thrown in the Rue Berri on Thursday Wacr- directed fgainst the'life of a prominent magistrate, who has been pronouncing severe sentences against the.strikers. He was absent at the time of the explosion.
