XAPIER PARK SPRING MEETING. PIEiST DAY. (By TelegTaph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Wednesday. There was fine weather for the first day of the Napier Park Racing Club's Spring Meeting. Eleven bookmakers were licensed —five inside at £20 10/ each and six outside at £15 15/. The sum or £6347 was put through the machines, as against £6119 for the first day of the last spring meeting. At the last hurdle Aorangi led Rangihaeta by a length, but once over the former drew drain away ami won anyhow by half-a-dozen lengths. Faunus was first off, Winning Post being next, but they had only gone a few strides when Winning Post rushed to the front and led all the way. Running round the far turn Martist moved up to Adjudge, the pair being over a couple of lengths clear of Outlauder and Stratagem. Adjudge was in trouble as soon as they straightened for home, and Martlst, going on, wou by two lengths and a-half from Outlander, who beat Adjudge by about three parts of a length for second place. Phobos dropped back running up tne hill and Daringdale moved up to the favourite. Inside the distance the Held closed up, and Masterpiece had to have the whip drawn on him. My Lawyer was first to break the line, Obsono getting left and San Severo also getting badly away. My Lawyer was closely attended by Gapon ac they turned for home, when All Guns run into second place and the field closed up. My Lawyer drew clear away in the straight, and won by cix lengths from All Guns, who beat Balaclava by half-a-length. Time, 1.16 3-5. TAIOMA HANDICAP of lOOsovs. Five furlong.s. C.
