WATER POWER LEGISLATION.
(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Eeporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Speaking to a "Star" representative in regard to legislation dealing with his water-power scheme, the Hon. R. McKenzie said he did not contemplate bringing down a bill that could foe regarded as, contentious. All that would be necessary was a ibill to provide for the authorisation of an expenditure of £500,000 per year for the development of the scheme. Already provision was mude -on the Statute Book to enable the Government to conserve the power of development, •but it might be necessary to insert a clause making it impossible for any concession such as that given the Waihi Company in regard to Horahora being given, to a private company in the future.
